Summer Camp

Summer Camp

Memories of summer camp; camp fires and s’mores, learning to swim, to fish and canoe, making new friends, midnight snacks, scavenger hunts, team spirit, gimp bracelets and playing tricks on the counselors – these are memories that last forever and an experience we want to offer children who can’t imagine this fun.

We fund eight weeks of Summer Day Camp for over 100 exceptional children. Children aged 6 – 16 whose life experiences at such a young age mean their priorities have been coping with very adult issues and they haven’t had the chance to play as children should. Emotional or behavioural difficulties often preclude them from being accepted into ‘regular’ summer camps. So we fundraise to ensure our camp will accommodate these strong and active children who need the chance to experience some real fun.

A $1,000 donation allows 3 children to attend a 1-week summer camp with programs specially designed for children with exceptionalities.

Camp To Belong is a special camp located in Kentucky, USA, established to reunite siblings who are not being raised together. We offer this unique opportunity to children in care of the HCAS who have been separated by foster care or adoption.

A donation of $1,920 will allow three siblings to experience a week of residential camp together, sharing celebrations otherwise unknown to them.

We also support over night camps here in Ontario for children who would not usually be given the opportunity. One example of a fantastic partner is Tall Ships Adventures based in Toronto, www.tallshipsadventures.on.ca which offers an awesome sailing experience for youth.

Our Youth aged 14 and up are encouraged to join our camp and participate as leaders in training, learning many skills that will help them as they move towards independence.
