Paddles Up, Dragons Away……..

On Sunday August 14^th 2011 Tina Blatchford, CAFH Executive Director, will be joining friends and colleagues to take part in the 8^th annual Tigertel Oakville Charity Dragon Boat Festival.

This is an awesome event for an even more AWESOME cause –  the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halton, supporting children & youth living in care of the Halton Children’s Aid Society.  

The event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar, supports many charities throughout Halton and some overseas.

CAFH is lucky and extremely grateful to be the charity chosen to partner with RCOT to receive a percentage of the proceeds of the event and have a great opportunity to spread awareness of our cause. Further to this fundraising opportunity we are able to give our youth a fabulous day out, participating in team building & creating wonderful memories.

More than 70% of children in our care are teenagers who cannot live with their parents for a great variety of reasons. These young people often feel rejected, isolated and forgotten – CAFH funds critical nurturing and motivating programs, leading to bursaries for post secondary education. These programs provide the tools for children in need to overcome their challenges, realize their dreams and become successful members of this community.
